Upgrading a building’s fire system is straightforward when the building is empty. None of these were.

The Sky Tower runs seven days a week. The Grand Hotel has guests asleep in it. The casino floor does not close. On a site like this the work is governed less by the wiring than by the sequencing — which zones come out of service, when, for how long, and what holds the building’s fire protection while they do.

Ultrafire has completed full site fire system upgrades at the Sky Tower and the SkyCity Grand Hotel, and is working through the SkyCity Hotel and Casino now. Alongside that programme we carry out the routine fire alarm testing and maintenance for SkyCity Auckland and SkyCity Hamilton.

It is the largest single body of work we hold, on one of the most recognisable sites in the country. It is also the clearest answer to the question a building owner is really asking: can this company work at scale, on a site that cannot be shut down, without the fire system ever being out of service.
